I'm living in a box. I'm living in a cardboard box.

I just came home with what I thought were a totally rockin' shirt and pair of green khaki type things for Had.  The shirt had really cute sleeves and the pants were embroidered with some funky flowers.  She came home from school and looked the outfit up and down.

Me: What'd'ya think, babes?

Had: Hmm.  I'll try them on, I guess

She does so.

Me: Oooh, that looks so cute!  Do you like it?

Had: Er, well, the shirt's okay I guess, but I don't like the pants, and *sigh* I'm not crazy about the shirt really

Me: Okay, that's fine.  I'm glad you told me before I took the labels off [that is usually Hadleigh's way--she loves it until the labels come off and the clothes are truly ours.  Perhaps a sign of future commitment issues?]

Had:  Momma, can I go and choose the clothes next time?

Me: [groaning inwardly] Okay, if that's what you want.

Had:  I know me picking my own clothes out drives you crazy because you think I'm going to pick out rock star clothes, but I won't.

I feel like she's growing up so fast.  So is Tom.  It tugs at my heart--sadness that they'll never be this age again, and happiness that they're lucky enough to be healthy and happy.

Tom (a.k.a Hippie Boy) got some glow-in-the-dark pajamas and he spent the afternoon playing in a box.  This is fun for him!

The minutiae of every day are what keep me going sometimes.  Nothing exciting.  Just playing, talking, cooking dinner, communicating.

I feel happy lately.  Maybe it's since I'm off the birth control.  Whatever it is, I like it.

2 - Hey Nat, do you remember the time i took you to go chose some clothes and you came back with a sky blue jacket, how much did you get from that moment of knowing your mum wasn't behind you saying 'do you really like the colour, oh theres not another in your size, and trying to disuade you from a certain item?' The face saying it all! And was it Carly who had a pair of high heels for the first time, not appropriate at all and i bet your mum could have killed me!! I think Rhonda was really sensible, i think she chose a pair of trousers, it must have been something good cus i can't remember what she brought! lol. Hadleigh's an individual and practicality doesn't always make your kids happy, and in the end it won't make you happy because you would have gone out and spent your money and hey guess what, the garment just sits in the cupboard doing nothing!! i've been there Nat believe me, sometimes its just best to compromise and let them feel they are in control, if YOU like it SHE won't, so ask her first, come on Nat use your noodle ha, get that head start, reverse physcology, use it girl!!!! love ya xxxxxxx

3 - In years to come Hadleigh will look back at photos and blame you for whatever she's wearing.
Trust me.
Don't worry. Be HAPPY! (Comment this)

4 - How much do I love those pictures? Let me count the ways.

Also, what's wrong with rock-star clothes? It's the Pop Star clothes we need to worry about, right? (Comment this)

6 - shez, Shez,
I don't remember a sky blue jacket, but it sounds hideous. Still, I was the same girl who chose a yellow pleather skirt and a yellow and black stripey shirt. I will have to find a picture of me wearing it.
I hope Hadleigh will go shopping with her Aunts and find something that I will hate.....then I'll know the world is spinning as it should be. :) (Comment this)

7 - Shazza,
Does Emma blame you? Because I do blame my Mum for many of the fashion atrocities that were committed against me. Can I just mention the endless matching clothes with the sisters? Oh God, the humanity! (Comment this)

8 - True! Rock stars at least cover themselves up! Pop skanks, luckily, are not people that Hadleigh wants to be like. She's not into Britney or anybody like that. She likes KT Tunstall. (Comment this)

9 - I'm adorable?? And now, because of a compliment, I'll also be obnoxious. In fact, I think I will not do any ironing tonight, because, well, adorable people should just sit down and finish Season Three of Alias, right? (Comment this)

11 - Marmite Breath, Right!
Adorable Nat ,
Isn't season three just fabulous? After seeing each season various times I'm starting to like this one best. Believe me I do have a life, I just like it better with a little (a lot) of Alias in it.
I LOVE IT ! ! ! ! (Comment this)
